West Virginia’s Cass Scenic Railroad will host a Railfan Weekend on May 16-18, an event that will include multiple excursions with photo run-bys, night photo sessions and tours.
On Friday, an excursion will depart Cass at 8 a.m. for a run to Bald Knob with photo run-bys at Old Spruce, Oats Run and Bald Knob. The train will return to Cass 5 p.m.
On Saturday, the excursion will depart Cass at 8 a.m. for Spruce and Big Cut. Photo run-bys are planned with a return by 5 p.m.
Sunday operations will feature the famous triple locomotive race and an 8 a.m. trip to Whittacker Station, returning to Cass by 2:30 p.m.
Night photo sessions hosted by Railfan & Railroad magazine editor Steve Barry are scheduled for Friday and Saturday nights,.
Tickets and reservations are available by mail by writing to Cass Scenic Railroad State Park, P.O. Box 130, Green Bank, WV 24944. Phone orders can be placed during regular business hours at 800-225-5982 and asking for the Cass Scenic Railroad.
Tickets are $250 for all three days. The price includes Friday breakfast and box lunch, Saturday and Sunday box lunches, and both night photo sessions. There are no Saturday-only tickets.
