Robert Farkas began photographing railroad operations in the 1960s and regular readers of the Akron Railroad Club blog have no doubt enjoyed seeing his images and reading his stories about his work.
Farkas, a long-time ARRC member, is also a videographer and he will show some of his video when he presents the program at the June 24 ARRC meeting.
His program is titled, Here, There, and Who Knows Where? It will be an hour long presentation on DVD of some of his best footage.
Included will be operations of former Grand Trunk Western steam locomotive No. 4070 on the Cuyahoga Valley Line – now known as the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad — and an Ohio Central fan trip with a dead battery DVD.
What’s that? You’ll have to come to the program to find out.
Bob also said he will show video of local railroad operations and, perhaps, give us a surprise or two.
The meeting will begin at 8 p.m. with a half-hour business meeting followed by the program at approximately 8:45 p.m. The club meets at the New Horizons Christian Church, 290 Darrow Road, Akron.
Following the meeting, some members gather at Eat ‘n Park restaurant at Howe and Main streets in Cuyahoga Falls for a late dinner, dessert or an early breakfast.
Visitors are always welcome at Akron Railroad Club meetings.
