CSX set up air quality monitoring stations at the derailment site as a precaution.

Residents of Falmouth were evacuated along with an elementary school. The derailment occurred on a former Louisville & Nashville route near milepost 39.5 on the CC Subdivision between Cincinnati and Corbin, Kentucky.
