CSX to Help Employees Hurt by Matthew

CSX CEO Michael Ward is contributing $1 million to a fund that will provide short-term assistance to railroad employees who suffered losses as a result of Hurricane Matthew.

CSX logo 3The fund is designed to provide short-term financial assistance to CSX employees who found themselves in dire need.

The railroad has an employee disaster relief fund that is used to help out employees.

Ward challenged other CSX employees to match his pledge. CSX said that individual employee contributions to the special fund and the American Red Cross will also be matched by the railroad.

Hurricane Matthew damaged brought high winds and torrential rain to the Atlantic seaboard in the southwestern United States.
