November ARRC Meeting to Feature CVSR

Since it began operations as the Cuyahoga Valley Line in June 1975 with steam locomotive 4070, the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad has had a wide array of equipment.

At the November Akron Railroad Club meeting, Marty Surdyk and Craig Sanders will present a tag team program that will focus on the history on the CVSR fleet, seeking to show not just its mainstay motive power but some of the odd ball equipment that has graced the railroad over the years.

Marty began photographing the CVSR in 1983 when the 4070 was still pulling the trains and will show slides from his collection through 1997. Craig will pick up from there and illustrate the railroad through a presentation of digital images.

The meeting will begin at 8 p.m. with a half-hour business meeting followed by the program at approximately 8:45 p.m. The club meets at the New Horizons Christian Church, 290 Darrow Road, in Akron.

Following the meeting, some members gather at the Eat ‘n Park restaurant at Howe and Main streets in Cuyahoga Falls for a late dinner, dessert or an early breakfast.

Visitors are always welcome at Akron Railroad Club meetings.
