GLBT Seeks Additional Time for Report

The company seeking to build a railroad bypass around Chicago is seeking more time from the Surface Transportation Board to conduct an environmental review.

STBGreat Lakes Basin Transportation said in a Feb. 28 letter that it is having discussions with potential customers, shippers and others that may file statements of support for its proposal.

“These discussions are ongoing and are expected to continue for several more weeks,” the letter said. GLBT has proposed building a 278-mile route from northwest Indiana to southern Wisconsin.

The STB had earlier suspended the environmental review until Feb. 28.
