WM BL2 to Serve Durbin & Greenbrier Valley

An EMD BL2 painted in the Western Maryland “fireball” livery will soon be operating on the Durbin & Greenbrier Valley tourist railroad in West Virginia.

No. 82 was overhauled and repainted by the Cass Scenic Railroad shops and was released last week.

The former WM unit had been painted in the railroad’s speed lettering livery.

The BL2 was taken to Cass late last year. Once it is transported to Elkins, West Virginia, No.82 will be based at Belington, West Virginia, where the D&GV has a shop.

No. 82 was built in October 1948. WM BL2 No. 81 is on static display at the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Museum in Baltimore.
