When members of the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society bring Nickel Plate Road No. 765 to Northeast Ohio in September they will be getting a glimpse of another steam operation.
The group’s members and guests will tour the Age of Steam Roundhouse in Sugarcreek, which is owned by Akron Railroad Club life member Jerry Joe Jacobson.
The tours, which are not open to the public, will be held on Sept. 16 and 23.
No. 765, a 2-8-4 Berkshire, will be pulling trips on the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad on two weekends in September.
A sister locomotive to the 765, NKP 2-8-4 No. 763, is part of the AOS collection.
The tour will not be free. The FtWRHS members and guests will pay $40 for the two-hour tour.
