Indiana Short Line Using Historic SD9

An Indiana short line railroad has placed back into service an SD9 that dates to 1955.

The Indiana Eastern is using the former Central of Georgia unit on the 43 miles of former Chesapeake & Ohio of Indiana track that it operates between Fernald, Ohio, and Richmond, Indiana.

The unit still has the livery of the Algers, Winslow & Western, where it last worked before being acquired by the Indiana Eastern.

No. 206 is now the primary locomotive used by the railroad and is spelling a former Norfolk Southern high-hood GP38-2 that is being repaired.

The Indiana Eastern, which is based in Cottage Grove, Indiana, has another SD9 that worked for the AW&W.
