The Akron Railroad Club will be holding its annual end of year dinner on Saturday with a program being presented by Roger Durfee.
The event begins at 5:30 p.m. at the New Era restaurant at 10 Massillon Road in Akron.
An earlier announcement of the event indicated that the program would focus on images that Durfee has made since retiring a couple years ago as a conductor for Norfolk Southern.
But he also has indicated to the club that he plans to go “old school” in his program and show slides of railroads around Akron from the 1970s and 1980s.
Whatever the program turns out to be it should be enjoyable given that Roger is an outstanding photographer.
The ARRC elected officers for 2020 at its November meeting with all current officers being re-elected.
Todd Dillon will remain as president, Bill Kubas will continue as vice president, Jim Mastromatteo will be the secretary, Paul Havasi agreed to continue as treasurer and Ron McElrath will continue to publish the every other month newsletter.
The ARRC’s next regular meeting will be Jan. 24, 2020, at 8 p.m. at the New Horizons Christian Church in Akron. Ron McElrath will present the program.
