Indiana Industrial Park Gets Grant to Connect with CSX

LaPorte County, Indiana, has received a $1 million grant to help pay for a railroad line to connect an industrial park with CSX.

The grant was awarded by the Indiana Economic Development Corporation.

The $6 million rail spur will connect the CSX mainline to Chicago with the Kingsbury Industrial Park, which CSX had listed as a “select site” for prospective developers.

The industrial park is also connected by rail with Canadian National and would be one of the few to offer connections to two Class I railroads.

The grant will come from the Industrial Development Grant Fund, which provides assistance to communities making infrastructure investments in support of economic development.
