Another EL Monday is in Store

It’s been awhile since we had an Erie Lackawanna Monday. So here are four images from the camera of Bob Farkas.

In the top image an EL crew is making a pickup or set off at the McCoy Street Yard that is out of sight to the left.

After finishing its work in the yard, it will be heading east out of Akron. The image was made in December 1967.

In the next image EL 1007 and EL 1028, a pair of Alco RS3s, are eastbound in Akron past the ex-EL passenger station platform in September 1972.

In the next image, EL E8A 814 is on the point of a freight in Akron in March 1973, three years after the demise of passenger service here.

In the bottom image a now Conrail and former EL Alco RS3 No. 1040 is in Akron on April 3, 1976, just two days after Conrail was formed.
