Some manufacturing facilities have turned to making personal protective equipment during the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly face shields.
The Strasburg Rail Road offered to do this, too, and wound up get work fashioning morgue carts.
The railroad’s chief mechanical officer, Kelly Anderson, posted a photograph of one of the carts at a chat list maintained by Railway Preservation News.
The Strasburg had, reportedly, offered to make parts for ventilators in an effort to generate work that would keep the shop staff employed.
Although better known for operating excursion trains, the Strasburg had shut those down during the pandemic. It is still operating freight trains.
