Steam in the Valley for Wednesday

Steam locomotives are a major theme for today here at Akron Railroads. In the story below Edward Ribinskas takes us to California for two days of a ferry move of a Union Pacific steam locomotive following the conclusion of the 1992 National Railway Historical Society convention in San Jose, California.

Above is former Cuyahoga Valley Line 4070 putting on a show as it steams southbound in Brecksville on Oct. 27, 1979.

It may be not be obvious, but there is a connection between the two posts other than both feature steam engines.

Ed worked for a time as a fireman on the 4070 crew when it ran in the Cuyahoga Valley under the direction of the Midwest Railway Preservation Society.
