Good Times on the Durango & Silverton

After spending a day in Reno, Nevada, following our Union Pacific 4-6-6-4 No. 3985 adventure, Ursula and I boarded Amtrak’s California Zephyr for a trip to Grand Junction, Colorado.

We then had a rental car for a drive to Durango for a few days, which obviously was highlighted by riding and photographing the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad and Museum.

With all the turmoil happening now with the D&SNG, I’m so glad we were able to enjoy

a fabulous train ride, scenery and photography. I’m hoping all the doom and gloom subsides and they can resume the great adventures as we were able to enjoy. All photos were made on July 30, 1992 and feature trains between Durango and Silverton.
