Museum Seeks to Build Rail Line for Excursions

A railroad museum in New York State wants to construct 1.3 miles of track to reach a regional railroad so that it can operate excursion trains to Buffalo.

The Salamanca Rail Museum wants to connect with the Buffalo & Pittsburgh Railroad in East Salamanca.

The project would cost $3 million and involve laying track on an abandoned right of way that traverses land owned by the Seneca Nation.

Museum officials told the Salamanca Common Council that the Seneca Nation might be involved in operating a shuttle bus service to bring passengers to the museum.

The officials also said they are seeking funding for the project.
