Gorton Named President of Conrail

Brian Gorton has been named president and chief operating officer of Conrail, which oversees a shared assets network in Detroit, Philadelphia and New Jersey.

He will replace Timothy Tierney, who retired after nearly 43 years in the railroad industry.

Gorton began his railroad career as a conductor for Conrail in 1987.

He later became an assistant terminal superintendent before leaving Conrail before its acquisition by CSX and Norfolk Southern in 1998. 

Gorton worked for Union Pacific in various position ns in the transportation department, most recently as general manager of the Houston and Gulf Coast service inits.
