CSX Makes Disability Best Place to Work

CSX has been named a best place to work by Disability:IN and the American Association of People with Disabilities.

The carrier said in a news release it is the third consecutive year it has been named to the list.

A total of 272 companies sought the designation after receiving a score of 80 or above on a scale of zero to 100 known as the Disability Equality Index,

Last year 319 applicants were scored based on their self-reported inclusion practices, policies and hiring commitments for people with disabilities during calendar year 2020.

All the applicants “are investing the time and resources to build inclusive programs and policies” across the areas of culture and leadership; enterprise-wide access; employment practices (e.g., benefits, recruitment, employment, education, retention and advancement, accommodations); community engagement; supplier diversity; and non-U.S. operations (if applicable), Disability:IN and AAPD said.

AAPD and Disability:IN noted that a score of 100 does not convey “perfection.” They said they “recognize that there is no one ‘right way’ to practice inclusion, and that some practices may be more practical for some companies or industries than others. A score of 100 on the DEI simply means that a company adheres to many of the numerous leading disability inclusion practices featured in the DEI.”
