Norfolk Southern will eliminate seven jobs through the closure of its engine house in Cresson, Pennsylvania.
The closure will occur at the end of July. An NS spokesman said it is part of the company’s long-term business plans.
Cresson is about five miles southwest of Altoona, Pennsylvania, although 15 miles by rail.
The job cuts are the second NS as imposed this month in the Altoona region. Earlier in July NS furloughed 86 workers and eliminated 14 vacant positions at its Juniata Locomotive Shop.
