RRE to Meet Friday in Westlake

The Forest City Division of the Railroad Enthusiasts will meet on Friday (Feb. 11) in Westlake.

The program will be a member’s night format with attendees encouraged to show 25 digital images or slides.

The meeting will be held at the former Fraternal Order of Police Hall at 26145 Ridge Road. The starting time is approximately 8:15 p.m.

The meeting may be the last one to be held at this location. The building has been sold and the new owner plans to renovate it to accommodate a printing business. That process will eliminate the meeting rooms.

The RRE is seeking a new meeting venue and has asked anyone who knows of a potential meeting site to contact one of the club officers.

The most recent RRE newsletter indicated that officers are exploring various potential meeting venues but are unsure if one will be available for the March 11 meeting.

Also undecided is the fate of the 2022 banquet. The event was cancelled in 2021 and 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In recent years the banquet has been held in April, but RRE officers indicated no site has yet been lined up for this year.

Members will discuss the banquet during the February meeting and among the options are holding the event later in the year or cancelling it for 2022 and look to have it in 2023.

RRE also announced that it seeking program presenters for the remainder of 2022.
