CSX issued its 2021 environmental, social and governance report this week which described its economic, workforce, environmental, social and governance performance.
The Class 1 carrier said it has reduced Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 15.6 percent since 2014 and has begun using alternative fuels and engine enhancements to reduce fuel burn and overall emissions from locomotives.
Another goal CSX said it continues to pursue is hiring workers who are more reflective of the communities the railroad serves.
The report was written in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative Standards, the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board, the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures and other sustainability reporting frameworks.
