A Pennsylvania short line railroad holding company is seeking to acquire control of Ohio-based South Point & Ohio Railroad.
Regional Rail, which is based in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, has notified the U.S. Surface Transportation Board that it is seeking to gain control of the switching line in South Point, Ohio, along the Ohio River near Huntington, West Virginia.
SP&O operates over seven miles of track and is owned by Illinois-based Agracel Rail Holdings. Regional Rail also is seeking control of two Illinois short lines owned by Agracel.
The acquisition notice was published Dec. 2 in the Federal Register.
Regional Rail currently owns the East Penn Railroad, which has 110 miles of track in southeastern Pennsylvania and northern Delaware.
It also owns rail operations in Florida, New York, North Carolina, and a switching operation in Morrisville, Pennsylvania.
