NS to Donate to Agencies Serving Homeless

Norfolk Southern said this week that it will give $600,000 to 26 organizations that provide shelter and services for the homeless.

In a news release, the Class 1 carrier said recipients of the grant funds were chosen “based on cities that had high rates of homelessness per capita and where NS has a considerable employee-based and operations.”

One grant recipient is based in Ohio, Southeast Incorporated (Friends of the Homeless) in Columbus.

Other recipients include Bethesda Mission of Harrisburg (Men’s Mission/Women’s Mission), Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; Covenant House Michigan, Detroit; Family Promise of the Main Line, King of Prussia, Pennsylvania; Roark-Sullivan Lifeway Center, Charleston, West Virginia; Uniting Partners for Women and Children, Louisville, Kentucky; and Wheeler Mission Ministries (Men’s Mission/Women’s Mission), Indianapolis.
