A Michigan utility company has donated a switcher to a Michigan museum.
The GE 125-ton center cab locomotive was given to the Friends of the Coopersville & Marne Railway, a non-profit heritage railroad.
The locomotive once worked at Consumers Energy at its West Olive facility. It was built in 1979.
The heritage railroad operates over 7 miles of former Grand Trunk Western trackage between its namesake communities.
It uses a former GTW SW9 and former commuter coaches. The donated locomotive will be used in freight operations in the Grand Rapids area.
