CSX Reaches Sick Leave Pact with SMART-TD

CSX has reached yet another agreement with a railroad labor union on paid sick leave.

The most recent pact is with the Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation Workers-Transportation Division B&O  union and covers trainmen and conductors.

The pact will provide for five days of paid sick leave annually along with the opportunity to convert two days of personal leave into sick leave.

CSX said the latest agreement means that more than 10,000 of its unionized workers, or 60 percent, are now eligible for sick leave.

Other unions that have negotiated paid sick leave for their CSX worker members include the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers; the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way, which represents track workers; the Brotherhood of Railway Carmen, which represents mechanical employees; the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, which represents railroad machinists; and the National Conference of Firemen and Oilers, which represents CSX’s utility workers.
