A tank car on CSX in Marion this week was found to be leading a hazardous substance identified as phosphoric acid.
The lead was discovered by a crew member early Tuesday morning after the train had stopped.
First responders imposed a quarantine around the site as they investigated and cleaned it up.
As a result two nearby residences were evacuated while workers capped the leak.
No injuries were reported other than a CSX workers suffering “minor skin irritation” due to the failure of a hazmat suit.
A vacuum truck was used to remove spilled acid and soil at the site will be excavated and removed.
