2015 Picnic at NE Ohio Live Steamers

Chef Marte revives the fire during the afternoon to get ready to serve up another round of burger and dogs.
Twenty-five attendees turned out for the 2015 Akron Railroad Club picnic, which has held a new venue for the club.
The July 26, 2015, event was hold at the home of the Northeast Ohio Live Steamers near Lester. The grounds feature nearly two miles of tracks.
As always, grillmaster Chef Marte (a.k.a. Marty Surdyk) expertly prepared hamburgers and hot dogs throughout the day. No one went home hungry.
One steam locomotive operating as well as some diesels. Clint Ensworth Jr., the son of the late ARRC member Clint Ensworth Sr., brought an interurban car to run over the lines.
It was typical July picnic weather, hot and humid. A brief show fell around mid-day, but otherwise it was sunny skies.
ARRC member Paul Woodring suggested holding the picnic at the NEOLS site because he thought it would have a similar vibe to a picnic held years ago at Trolleyville USA in North Olmsted. ARRC member Greg Warren is also a NEOLS member and served as the liaison between the two organizations in making the arrangements.
It was an enjoyable summer day and another good ARRC outing.
