Akron & Barberton Belt SW1500 Nos. 1501 and 1502 are leading an excursion train on the former Erie Railroad and later Erie Lackawanna mainline east of Rittman on Nov. 16, 1984. These became Akron Barberton Cluster Railway Nos. 1501 and 1502.
Former Conrail SW1500 No. 9566 is off to a new assignment. Its Conrail markings have been painted over and a line drawn through its roster number indicates it has been retired by Conrail. Next to it is SD40-2 No. 6456. The train is passing through Berea on the Chicago Line in May 1997.
Here is a series of images made on June 17, 2022 in Akron where Akron Barberton Cluster Railway EMD SW1500 No. 1501 is working a shipper. The series shows the train about to back up into the company, working the company and making up a train to head back to Barberton. The crew will back up the two boxcars, run around them, and head back to Barberton.
Akron Barberton Cluster SW1500 No. 1501 is eastbound heading for the yard in Barberton on Nov. 12, 2021. The unit was once on the Conrail motive power roster. It was built in June 1966 by EMD.
Akron Barberton Cluster Railway SW1500 No. 1501 works in Akron on June 5, 2021. The unit once worked for the Indianapolis Union Railway, a terminal railroad not unlike the original Akron & Barberton Belt that was owned by the railroads with which it connected.

Here are two images of Akron Barberton Cluster No. 1502, an EMD SW1500, that were made 24 years apart. The top image was made in Barberton in April 1987 when it was still the Akron & Barberton Belt. The bottom image was made in Barberton on Aug. 26, 2021, by which time the 1502 was lettered and painted for the Akron Barberton Cluster Railway.
