Railfan Groups Resume In-Person Meetings

The Cincinnati Railroad Club will conduct a hybrid meeting on Aug. 5 at 7:30 p.m.

The club will meet in person but offer its meeting online via Zoom.

In an announcement the club said it likely will offer regular monthly in-person meetings as well as have a virtual option to watch programs.

The August program will be presented by Lee Rainey remotely via Zoom on the East Broad Top Railroad in Pennsylvania.

The meeting will be held at Archbishop’s House on the campus of Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Center, 5418 Moeller Avenue, in Norwood.

In an unrelated development, the Michigan Railroad Club has announced that it will return to in-person meeting starting Sept. 1.

Meeting will be held in Club Room 1 of the Ford Performing Arts Center in Dearborn.

Meetings are held between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. The group must clear the meeting room by 9 p.m.

The programs for future meetings will be announced later.

Michigan Museum Delays Opening

The Steam Railroading Institute in Owosso, Michigan, has announced that it is delaying its opening for the season.

In a notice posted on its website, the museum said it was acting in compliance with a state stay-at-home order as well as to protect public health and the safety of visitors, volunteers and staff.

It is the second time this year the SRI has delayed its opening. It posted a similar postponement notice in March.

The latest notice did not give any indication as to when the museum might open for 2020.

In an unrelated development, the June meeting of the Michigan Railroad Club has been canceled due to state social distancing restrictions.

The Detroit area where the club is based has been among the hardest hit in the state.

Michigan Railroad Club to Meet Wednesday

A program about the railroads of Toledo will be featured at the February meeting of The Michigan Railroad Club.

The club meeting begins at 7 p.m. on Feb. 5 at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center, 15801 Michigan Ave, in Dearborn, Club Room No. 1.

The program, titled, Toledo Railfanning will be presented by Mark Cowles and will take a look at railroads and boats.

The meeting is expected to end by 9 p.m. Visitors are welcome.

The club has program slot opening for 2021 and is soliciting presenters.

Michigan Railroad Club Meeting Tonight in Dearborn

The Michigan Railroad Club will meet tonight at 7 p.m. at the Ford Community & Preforming Arts Center, 15801 Michigan Ave, in Dearborn in Club Room 1.

The program will be New England Holiday presented by Brad Noyles. It will cover railroads in New England.

Visitors are welcome at the meeting, which is expected to end by 9 p.m.

Michigan Railroad Club to Meet Wednesday

The Michigan Railroad Club will meet Wednesday (Dec. 4) at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center, 15801 Michigan Ave, Dearborn.

The program will be presented by Gary Sample and feature Christmas trains.

The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in Club Room 1 at the center.

MRC 2020 calendars will be available at the meeting along with other MRC merchandise.  Visitors are welcome.
