OC&T to Have Photo Freight on May 28

All three operating locomotives of the Oil Creek & Titusville Railroad will be in action on May 28 during a five-hour photo charter event.

The highlight will be M420W No. 3568, which is being given a new livery inspired by the Pennsylvania Railroad. Also in service that day will be Alco S2 Nos. 75 and 85.

The Pennsylvania-based short line railroad said it will limit attendance to 35 people. Tickets are $50 per person and available by calling 814-676-1733. A box lunch can be ordered for an additional $15.

The photo freight excursion will depart at 3 p.m. from the Perry Street Station in Titusville.

The railroad also it also plans to host other Memorial Day weekend events including a wine-tasting trip on May 27 and regular train rides May 28-29.

Trains to Sponsor C&O 1309 Charter

Trains magazine and the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad will offer a photo charter for Chesapeake & Ohio No. 1309 in late September.

The restored locomotive will pull a freight train with 14 to 18 cars on Sept. 26 to 28, stopping at several locations on the 17-mile railroad.

Among the photo locations will be Helmstetter’s Curve. No. 1309, which was built in 1949, will wear its C&O markings and at times have Western Maryland lettering.

The event will also include a night photo shoot, cab access, and an audio-visual program detailing the restoration of the locomotive.

Tickets are $495 apiece and only 80 will be sold.  Tickets may be purchased at 800-TRAIN-50 or at wmsr.com.

Pa. Line to Offer Mixed Freight Photo Special

The Middletown & Hummelstown Railroad will offer mid-century mixed train for photographers on Oct. 4.

The train will leave the station at Middletown, Pa., at 3:30 p.m. Locomotive power will be the short line’s ex-Western Maryland Alco S-6. Freight cars, a caboose, and two coaches will fill out the train. Several photo opportunities will be offered to passengers.
