Trottenberg Confirmed as No. 2 at USDOT

Polly Trottenberg has been confirmed by the U.S. Senate as deputy U.S. transportation secretary.

She will be the second-in-command at the U.S. Department of Transportation behind Secretary Pete Buttigieg.

Trottenberg is a former New York City Transportation Commissioner and former MTA Board member.

She served as New York’s transportation commissioner for seven years before joining the Biden administration transition team.

Trottenberg to be No. 2 at USDOT

Polly Trottenberg has been named by President-elect Joseph Biden to be deputy U.S. transportation secretary.

Trottenberg has federal, state and city transportation agency experience and most recently served as New York City’s transportation commissioner until December 2020.

She also served as assistant secretary for transportation policy and under secretary for policy at the U.S. Department of Transportation during the Obama administration.

At NYCDOT Trottenberg oversaw a 5,800-person agency that operates the city’s roadways, bridges, traffic and parking systems, the Staten Island Ferry, and extensive bicycle, pedestrian and public plaza infrastructure.

If confirmed by the Senate, Trottenberg will become the second-ranking manger of USDOT behind U.S. Transportation Secretary nominee Pete Buttigieg.
