Conrail 8865 and 9095 are back-to-back in Alliance on Aug. 19, 1986. No. 8865 is an SW7 while the 9095 is an SW9. They are sitting in the yard adjacent to the Fort Wayne Line where it crosses and connects with the Cleveland Line.

We’re taking another look today inside the collection of images made by the late Mike Ondecker.
In today’s series we’ve gone back to mid 1968 to take a look at Pittsburgh & Lake Erie diesels in Youngstown.
In the top image is GP7 No. 5727, which was built for the P&LE in April 1953.
It later served the Illinois Central Railroad, where it was rebuilt into a GP8 and given roster number 7965.
In the bottom image we see a pair of SW9 switchers, Nos. 8939 and 8938.
Notice how the last three numbers on the cab are at an angle.
Both units were built in March 1951. No. 8938 would spend all of its career on the P&LE, but the 8939 would move off the property to enjoy a second life on various other short line railroads.
They seldom got out to run on the mainline, but switch engines are among some of the more interesting locomotives built.
Koppers tie plant in Orrville had this GE critter (top photograph) on the property on July 17, 1981. A few years later the plant closed and the critter was gone.
In the bottom image, Maryland & Pennsylvania SW9 No. 82 is shown at York, Pennsylvania, on Aug. 22, 1979. This unit was built for the Ma & Pa in November 1951.
Conrad Yelvington is a stone industry with plants around central Florida much like Shelley Materials in Ohio.
ACL No. 100 was built for the Atlantic Coast Line in 1950. It is owned by a preservation group. Although I’m not clear which one, they restored it to its original paint. They have leased it for the past 20 years to Conrad Yelvington which currently uses it at its Gainesville, Florida, facility.
GP30 2105 which works at the Sanford, Florida, facility started life as Baltimore & Ohio No. 6933. It’s a long way from when it used to run through Akron.
Alco No. 2144 works at the Orlando, Florida, facility and I was unable to trace its heritage. CYXX No. 2112 is an EMD sw9 that switches the CSX interchange at Orlando. CYXX No. 292 is an Alco RS1 at Orlando
A former Maryland & Pennsylvania SW9 has been donated to the Pennsylvania-based Stewartstown Railroad.
Friends of the Stewartstown Railroad, which arranged the donation, is seeking to start tourist train operations on the short line in south-central Pennsylvania.
The locomotive was donated by the York Railway Company, which operates over portions of the original “Ma & Pa.”
The diesel will be placed in storage for evaluation and repairs before being transferred to the Stewartstown.
No. 84 is a 1,200 horsepower unit built in September 1952 for the Pittsburgh & Lake Erie. It also worked on the Montour Railroad before being acquired by the Maryland & Pennsylvania.
The original Stewartstown Railroad ended operations in April 2004.
