Ohio Man Pleads Guilty to Theft Charge in Connection with Michigan Historical Society

An Ohio man who is a former officer of a railroad historical society in Michigan has received 93 days in jail after pleading guilty to a theft charge.

Steve Harvey, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, was formerly the treasurer of the Port Huron & Detroit Railroad Historical Society.

He pleaded guilty to a charge of larceny of less than $200. That charge had been reduced from embezzlement of between $1,000 and $20,000,

His attorney said Harvey has paid $10,014.75 in restitution. The attorney said Harvey indicated during his plea hearing that he made purchases with society funds without approval from the organization’s board and for his personal use.
