The U.S. Department of Transportation said this week it will donate 5.5 million cloth facial coverings to transportation workers.
The masks will be sent through the U.S. Postal Service in coming weeks.
In a news release, DOT said the donations include 4.8 million masks for mass transit and passenger rail, 3.8 million for aviation, 2.4 million for maritime, 2.2 million for freight rail, 2.1 million for highway and motor carriers and 258,000 for pipeline systems.
