If you are looking for a vintage locomotive livery to photograph, then plan a road trip to Pennsylvania or New York State.
The New York, Susquehanna & Western has repainted some of its locomotives into a silver color used by the NYS&W in the 1940s. The livery includes a narrow maroon stripe.
The revival of the scheme is being applied to the Susie Q’s Alco RS1s and S2s. and SD40-2 No. 3024.
The railroad’s current livery is a yellow and black look that has been termed “yellow jacket.”
The NYS&W operates over 400 miles of track in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania.

The silver and maroon stripe scheme started about 1952 when NYSW received the Budd stainless steel coaches.
