NS Repaints Lackawanna Heritage Unit

The Lackawanna heritage locomotive of Norfolk Southern has received a fresh coat of paint.

Trains magazine reported on its website that the work on SD70ACe No. 1074 was done at the Juniata Locomotive Shop in Altoona, Pennsylvania.

During a social media event, NS said it took 10 carmen 750 hours to blast, prep, and paint the unit using more than 105 gallons of primer, color coat, and clear coat.

It is the second NS heritage unit to get its livery redone, joining the Virginian H unit.

NS indicated it will touch up or repaint the rest of its 20-member heritage fleet with Pennsylvania Railroad ES44AC No. 8102 the next to enter the paint booth.
