America was on the eve of celebrating its bicentennial when this image of a pair of F7A locomotives was made in Cleveland.
It’s July 3, 1976, and Nos. 1785 and 1730 are still in their Penn Central dress. Of course Conrail was less than four months old so the job of repainting the motive power had hardly begun.
